MARATHON KIDS ANNOUNCES RACHEL KUBICKI COLLINS AS CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

AUSTIN, Texas – Marathon Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health and happiness of children by engaging them in a positive, simple, goal-driven running and walking program, announced today the addition of Rachel Kubicki Collins as Chief Development Officer.

In this role, Collins will be responsible for overseeing all fundraising efforts and ensuring progress to help Marathon Kids grow and thrive.

Before launching her own company, ACG Inc, Collins was the vice president of business development and consulting for Event 360, Inc. During her three years at Event 360, Collins provided event strategy, sponsorship and fundraising counsel to dozens of nonprofit organizations. Previously, she worked for six years with the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF).

When she started with the Foundation in 2000, Collins was one of three employees and was responsible for growing the Ride for the Roses event. From 2001 to 2006, the LAF grew from an organization with $1 million in annual revenue to a global cancer charity raising over $40 million a year. Collins played an instrumental role in the launch and management of the LIVESTRONG wristband campaign, which was a program that grew out of a strong event sponsorship relationship with NIKE.

“Rachel’s experience in the nonprofit world, including her success at LIVESTRONG, is a tremendous asset to Marathon Kids,” said CEO Cami Hawkins. “She is an excellent fit for our culture and vision for growth.”

Collins is also an author, pairing up with Wiley Publishing to release her first book, Banding Together for a Cause: Proven Strategies for Revenue and Awareness Generation. The book provides key insights, lessons learned from the LIVESTRONG wristband campaign, and examines how other organizations can find similar success.

ABOUT MARATHON KIDS

Marathon Kids helps kids unlock their potential and adults discover their inner coach by joining, starting or supporting a Marathon Kids running club in their home, school, out-of-school time organization or camp.

Kids in the program work at their own pace to run, or walk, the equivalent mileage of up to four marathons, and Marathon Kids provides the training, rewards, tools and resources to keep them moving. Marathon Kids works for any kid, at any fitness level. Kids set their goals and track their progress on a journey to complete four marathons, or 104.8 miles, over the course of the running club season. They run (or walk) a lap at a time, one day at a time, and before they know it they’ve gone farther than they ever dreamed. Kids enrolled in the program have a network of dedicated adults showing them how it’s done, and most importantly, a motivated and inspiring coach supporting them every step of the way.

Corporate partners and supporters include Nike, HEB, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, Active Schools, USATF Foundation, American Diabetes Association, Target, Tejas Trails, Athletes for Hope, LA Dodgers Foundation, and St. David’s Foundation.
