Research shows that kids are sometimes more comfortable connecting when they’re engaged in activities with you, like coloring, or cooking, or exercising. There’s something about being together side by side that helps get the ball rolling on good conversation. Do you know what you want to talk about when you have those golden moments with your kids? Have you practiced ways to bring up topics of importance with them when you can sense they are receptive?
The TODAY Parenting Team is partnering with us to bring you this summer Walk and Talk challenge. When you sign up below, you will be gifted with a set of topics created by family physician Dr. Deborah Gilboa, as well as a mileage log. Each topic – 26 in all – matches up with a mile of walking or running with your child. After 26(.2) miles, you and your child will have completed the equivalent of a full marathon, and have gotten to know each other a little better in the process.
There are lots of ways to get your miles in this summer: hike, walk, jog, run, roll, skip. And you can count steps everywhere you go, including parks, the beach, vacation spots, boardwalks, sporting events, and concerts.
Sign up for this free program today and we’ll send your Walk and Talk mileage log and talking topics by email! Please allow 24 hours for your free resources to arrive.
