About Dave McGillivray's Finish Strong Foundation
The Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation was established to inspire young people to set meaningful goals, work toward them with determination, and cross their own finish lines — in sport and in life.
Founded by legendary Boston Marathon Race Director Dave McGillivray, the Foundation supports programs that promote youth physical activity, character development, and perseverance. At the heart of its mission is the belief that when young people are given structure, encouragement, and opportunity, they can achieve far more than they imagine.
Through strategic partnerships and community-based initiatives, the Finish Strong Foundation helps remove barriers to participation, particularly for students in under-resourced communities. Its support of Marathon Kids in Boston Public Schools advances a shared vision: empowering students to complete 26.2 miles over time while building confidence, resilience, and lifelong healthy habits.
By investing in this pilot initiative, the Finish Strong Foundation is helping create a sustainable, district-wide model that celebrates movement, achievement, and the power of finishing strong.
