Marathon Kids Connect Privacy and Security Policy

Overview

Marathon Kids Connect is our digital platform that helps schools and community organizations run our Marathon Kids youth physical activity programs. We prioritize student data privacy and protect the information of coaches, administrators, parents, and students with care.

Scope

Applies to all users of Marathon Kids Connect:

  • Coaches & Supporters
  • Participants (students)
  • Parents/Guardians
  • School/Org Administrators
  • District Leaders

Data We Collect

  • Coach Information: name, email, organization, role
  • Organization information: address, city, state and zip code
  • Student Data: first name, last name, grade, gender, home room or PE class, student ID (optional) please see our Marathon Kids Connect Student Data Privacy Policy for more information.
  • Activity Data: scan logs, lap counts, mileage, program participation
  • User usage Info: device/browser type, IP address, login logs

Use of Data

  • To track participant progress and generate reports
  • To improve program outcomes and inform decision-making
  • To provide user support and system notifications
  • To enforce our Terms of Use and ensure system security

Data Protection Measures

  • Role-based access control
  • Encryption of data in transit and at rest
  • Adherence to National Institute of Standards and Technology  (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework

Data Sharing

  • With coaches and schools for educational reporting
  • With third-party vendors under strict privacy agreements
  • Aggregated (non-identifiable) usage data with funders or partners
  • Never sold or used for advertising

User Rights

  • Parents and schools may access, update, or request deletion of student data
  • Users can manage their data via account settings or by contacting support@marathonkids.org
