Marathon Kids Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Acknowledgment

Marathon Kids Connect (“MKC”) is used by schools, districts, and program administrators to support student participation in Marathon Kids programs. Because MKC may involve the collection and use of information about children under the age of 13, compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is required.

When uploading student rosters or entering student information into MKC, the individual or institution submitting this data (e.g., school, district, or authorized coach) acknowledges and affirms the following:

  • Authority and Responsibility
      1. The submitting party is authorized by the school or district to provide student information to MKC.
      2. The submitting party affirms that the school or district has obtained any necessary parental consent required under COPPA, or is acting as the parent’s agent in providing such consent for educational program purposes.

  • Purpose Limitation
      1. Information submitted to MKC will be used solely to support the educational and programmatic objectives of Marathon Kids, Inc., and any of their subsidiary entities.
      2. Data will not be used for marketing or other commercial purposes.

  • Parental Rights
      1. Parents and guardians have the right to review, request deletion of, or revoke consent for their child’s information. Such requests can be made through the child’s school/district or directly to Marathon Kids, Inc.

  • Documentation and Records
    1. MKC maintains a record of the acknowledgment provided during roster submission to ensure transparency and accountability.

By requiring this acknowledgment during student roster submission, Marathon Kids, Inc., and their subsidiary entities ensure that COPPA obligations are met while enabling schools and administrators to manage student participation in a safe and compliant manner.
